An eagle's nest

TresvisoIt is one of the most spectacular towns in the entire region: a small nucleus “hung” over the abyss of the Urdón gorge, with a sensation of a brutal mountain. It is a perfect visit for those lookingextreme scenery, good photos and a mountain road experience.

1. How to get to Tresviso (Important)

Getting there is part of the adventure.

Accessed fromSotres (Asturias). The final road is high mountain: narrow, curvy and slow.

  • Best time:in the morning or in good light.
  • Avoid:Close fog and heavy rain if you are not comfortable on mountain roads.
  • Plan:go up, walk for 30–60 minutes, eat or drink something and go down without rushing.

2. What to see in Tresviso

  • Natural viewpoints:Huge views of the mountains and the gorge from the town itself.
  • Architecture:Mountain streets, limestone, very photogenic.
  • Authenticity:Small, livestock town, without a massive tourist “showcase”.

3. Tresviso cheese

Tresviso gives its name to the D.O.P.Picón Bejes-Tresviso. It is a blue cheese, matured in natural caves, with an intense and spicy flavor. Buying it directly from the local producers up here is the best experience.

4. Practical tips

  • Go up with light and good weather.
  • Plan “few, good stops.”
  • Respect parking: space is very limited.
  • Great plan for photographers (sunrise/sunset).
